Emergency Preparedness

All HOA Members are encouraged to signup with the Routt County Emergency Alert program. This system enables Routt County to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods. You will receive time-sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. You pick where, you pick how. Please include your addresses when you sign up. Many of the notifications are based on a geographic area. Without your address, you may not receive an alert in these cases. Signup by clicking the link to Routt County Alerts.

Red Creek HOA has been very active in managing forest fire risk by participating in the development of the North Routt Fire District Community Wildfire Protection Plan, published in 2007 in accordance with the Federal Healthy Forest Restoration Act passed by Congress in 2003. Since 2007, we have reduced fuel by clearing our forest of mature lodgepole pines infested by Mountain Pine Bark Beetle, and have engaged professionals, the Routt County Emergency Services, and the North Routt Fire Protection District in preparing a more detailed emergency preparedness plan, specific to Red Creek.

Homeowners and new Home Builders should contact John Twitchell at the Colorado State Forest Service (879-0475), and Mike Swinsick of the North Routt Fire Protection District (879-6064)  for assessment and advice regarding the defense of their property from forest fire.
